Instalcom Appeal
The Instalcom appeal was held last week at the Shute End Borough office. However, the inspector was unable to get through all the topics in the 2-day appeal so the hearing will reconvene again on 19 January at 10.00 am following a site visit by the Inspector on the 18th of January.

Update on the Cross Lanes Farm proposal for 450 houses
A request to determine if a development of 450 dwellings at Cross Lanes Farm in Arborfield would require a full Environmental Impact Analysis has been submitted under Planning Application Reference 223370. Although the consultation period was due to end on 06 Dec 2022, WBC responded on 29 Nov 2022 - before the end of the consultation period - that it was deemed unnecessary. Arborfield and Newlands Parish Council have challenged the procedural validity regarding this situation and are seeking 3rd party advice on the matter.

This proposal, like the proposed 68 homes at 33 Barkham Ride, 40 at Edneys Hill and 240 at Blagrove Meadows are of huge concern to Barkham Residents even though some lie in neighbouring parishes. They are all being considered outside the local development plan and will be judged on their individual merits with no consideration given to their cumulative effect on traffic, impact on countryside etc. If any are approved - either initially by the Local Planning Authority or on subsequent appeal - it would set a horrible precedent for further developments such as 500 homes on Barkham Square.
