Land at Duck’s Nest, Eversley Road, Arborfield
We covered this application (250733) in last week's alert (6th July 2026). We wrote to the Chairman of the Planning Committee suggesting that in view of the Borough’s mistake that the application ought to be deferred. The Planning Committee nevertheless decided to consider the application at its meeting last week and we are told that it was approved unanimously. So that opens the door for another 135 dwellings to be built adjoining Arborfield Green.
The Solar Farm
The Borough tell us that they now have more confidence that they will be permitted to connect the intended solar farm to the grid without delay – so they are getting closer to placing a construction contract for the installation with a view to the farm going “live” by September 2027.Â
We made enquiries about the route of the cabling from the solar farm to the sub-station on Barkham Road opposite the Leathern Bottel. They are awaiting approval of a revised route which would take the line of the cable away from having to be placed in Barkham Road from the junction of Edneys Hill. It would be a shame to have to dig up Barkham Road just after it has been resurfaced.
Development at the rear of 354 Barkham Road
A detailed application (251540) has been made to build two new houses at the rear of 354 Barkham Road served by the small adjacent track which is apparently not in the title of 354. Any comments should be made by 28th July when the public consultation closes. Barkham Parish Council is objecting to the application.
