Potential development in
Blagrove Lane / Evendons Lane

We would like to make you aware of a proposed development by Berkeley Homes for approximately 375 new homes in the area around Blagrove Lane / Evendons Lane.

Local residents originally found out about this via Sarah Kerr, the Evendons councillor who was asked to engage with BH for local view. BH then subsequently sent a leaflet to local residents and invited residents to an informal consultation exhibition.

At this point in time no planning application has been submitted. Berkely Homes have been soliciting views on their proposal with the intention of submitting a formal planning proposal later this year. Details of the proposed site can be viewed at  https://www.blagrovemeadows.co.uk/

Whilst this development is not in the Barkham Parish it will have a significant impact for Barkham Residents including

  • The proposed entrance to the development will be on Barkham Rd. This will result in a significant increase of traffic on the Barkham Rd and delays at the station level crossing
  • The further erosion of green space between Barkham and Wokingham
  • Impact on local services including schools and health services

An action group “Save Our Blagrove Countryside” has been created to oppose this development. Details of the group can be found at https://evendons-area.org.uk/. They are organising a walk on Friday 22nd July at 7:00 pm to view the landscape impacted by the proposed development. If you are interested please meet at the entrance of Viking Field, just off Tanners Row, Evendons Lane.

The BVRA will maintain contact with this group and keep you updated on any developments and how you can make your views known to Wokingham BC.

Kind Regards

BVRA
