Blagrove Lane / Barkham Square / Langley Common Rd Updates

Development at Blagrove Lane (application 222306)

Hardly unexpected, but an appeal has now been lodged and any representations have to be made by the 24th December - see the attached Wokiingham Borough Council letter.

The Evendons Area Residents Association tell us that they are actively seeking advice as to how to oppose the appeal. You can E mail them at info@evendons-area.org.uk.

Land at Barkham Square

You may well have received an invitation to a pre application consultation by Crest Nicholson to the proposed development of up to 660 homes and 50 elderely care units on the land. You will recollect, of course, that the land is put forward in the draft Local Plan (600 homes being mentioned there) – together with another 300 houses on the adjoining site of the Arborfield Studios: A copy of the consultation invitation is attached. The consultation will be on Wednesday 4th December 2024 between 3-8pm at the Arborfield Green Community Centre. Our advice is not to comment on the proposals at the consultation – as it gives the developers prior warning of the grounds on which the application could be resisted by them.

Land at Langley Common Road (adjacent to the Biggs Lane roundabout)

Disappointingly the Borough’s Planning Committee has resolved to grant planning consent for application 232490 (50 homes) subject to a prior S 106 Agreement being entered into. This was not a site mentioned in the draft Local Plan proposals. This surely increases the concerns about the Local Plan proposals relating to the land at Barkham Square and Arborfield studios.
