The BVRA needs a new Membership Secretary and a Treasurer. Each role will take around 30 to 40 hours a year. If you are interested or would like more information please contact the Chairman, Alan Dixon chairman@barkham.org.uk

Membership Secretary

The role involves:

  • Maintaining the membership database, recording payments and changes
  • Printing the rounds for distributors - 4 times per annum
  • Covering for distributors on holiday. 

Treasurer

Knowledge of spreadsheets and business common sense are required. Book keeping or accountancy experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

The role involves:

  • Receiving the BVRA’s income from membership subs, Barkham Parish Council grant, newsletter advertisers, social events etc and paying the cheques and cash into our bank current account.
  • Paying all the expenses, by cheque, against receipts and being a cheque signatory.
  • Keeping an analysed spreadsheet cash book for the current and deposit accounts, reconciling the balances to the bank statements quarterly, and reporting the balances to the Committee meetings.
  • Reporting to the Committee on the profit or loss from each social event, using a spreadsheet.
  • Preparing the year end accounts spreadsheet and answering the queries of our honorary auditor/examiner, presenting the accounts at the AGM.
  • Invoicing the advertisers (less than 8) annually and chasing them if they do not pay.
  • Renewing our events insurances annually.
  • Applying for licences for events where we sell alcohol, usually 3 a year.
