Planning Application 201292 houses east of Barkham Manor

An application has been submitted to WBC to build 4 detached 4 bed houses to the east of Barkham Manor, with proposed access from the current Barkham Manor’s private access road.  To quote from the applicant’s Planning Design and Access Statement:

“The application site comprises a greenfield plot of land on the northern side of Barkham Road within the village of Barkham, which includes a collection of mature trees and vegetation in the south-western portion of the site and adjacent to the Barkham Road streetscene. The site is situated adjacent to Barkham Manor (west) and a small wooded area (east) with open fields in agricultural use bounding the site to the north.”

Residents may wish to comment on this planning application and the closing date for comments is 26 June 2020.

The site was proposed by the developer but not included by WBC in the Local Plan Update.  Initial review of the submitted documents suggest that the application would be contrary to WBC policies and the Arborfield and Barkham Neighbourhood Plan in (at least) the following areas:

CP11 (Core Policy) (proposals outside development limits)

IRS1 (Preservation of the separation of settlement)

AD1 (New developments within settlement limits)

Update on the Appeal - APP/X0360/C/19/3221552 - White Heart Grove, Land at The Coombes, Coombes Lane, Barkham, Berkshire, RG41 5SU

We have previously kept residents updated on this planned appeal inquiry for enforcement at White Heart Grove in The Coombes (Candice and Dean Jules) - see link below.

The latest status is a provisional date set for the appeal inquiry has now been postponed again due to the ongoing covid-19 situation and the Inspector is considering whether to hold it as a “virtual” event – no news on this yet.
